A simple diorama of cliffs. Decided to mystify it by adding an ominous glow emanating from the cave opening. Started by blocking initial mass in Maya, then right into Zbrush for form & definition. Scene consists of the main cliff side, an elongated boulder, and some small pebbles. Terrain & water plane was handled within Unreal 4. Reused some small plants from a previous scene. Decided to try a day & night lighting, lightmapped & baked. Main rocks are 1024 x 1024 x 4 (Base color, normal, RGB pak for Glossiness and Ambient Occlusion), and a height to aid with blending. And lastly, a 512 x 512 x 4 tileable sand texture for the terrain. Diorama was roughly 17 hours of work.
Collage view of the textures used. 1024 x 1024 x 4 Unique bakes for the main cliff pieces. A 512 x 512 x 2 detail tileable maps are used in conjunction with the material. And lastly, a 512 x 512 x 4 tileable sand texture for the terrain.
